Sea Lavender Garden Club History
The Sea Lavender Garden Club was formed in October 1993 by Manasquan resident June Cunningham after she noticed the small pocket garden the Manasquan Environmental Commission had planted at the inlet. The initial goals were twofold: to beautify Manasquan and to educate members in all aspects of horticulture.
On October 24, 2012, Super Storm Sandy washed away the Club’s shed and with it all the historical documents. A dedicated member managed to collect copies of many of these documents, such as meeting minutes, membership directories, newsletters, fundraising and plant sale information, treasurer’s reports, and program and trip information.
The Squan Village Historical Society, 105 South Street, has graciously agreed to house the historical documents of the Sea Lavender Garden. This material is available for your review upon request by contacting them at 732-223-6770.
Today, the Sea Lavender Garden club has over 100 members and we are proud to continue what June Cunningham and 24 founding members began: to beautify Manasquan.
